SCHMEICHEL WILL STAY

Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has said that he has no worries about staying at Leicester City for the upcoming season. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club, but he has said that he is only concentrating on the pre-season right now. Players like Schmeichel and Wes Morgan are extremely important to the club in their hopes of getting promoted to the Premier league, but manager Nigel Pearson revealed a few weeks ago that the club had received a few offers for these two players. The manager, though, has confirmed that he has no intention of allowing them to leave the club.

He has said that the presence of these players are extremely important because it is possible to build a team around them. Since moving from Notts County, Schmeichel has been an integral part of the team. He has made almost 50 appearances in all competitions last season. This helped Leicester finish in the final play-off position last season, but they were unable to make it into the play-offs final after suffering a heartbreaking exit at the hands of Watford in the semifinals.

Schmeichel, though, is of the belief that Premier league promotion is possible in this campaign.

“We are fighting very hard to keep our best players and build a better side. They have both been key performers for us over the last year or so. Wes has been here 15 months and performed exceptionally well all the way through that period, as has Kasper. They are really key players, there is no doubt about that. It is important we try and keep our best players. There have been bids and that was going to happen and I would have been surprised if that wasn’t the case,” said the Leicester City manager Pearson about keeping his important players.
