Denmark coach Morten Olsen has expressed his displeasure at the way his star midfielder, Christian Eriksen, has been treated by Tottenham Hotspur since the season came to a close.
Eriksen is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Denmark national team, but also feels that he has been looking extremely tired in recent games and during the training sessions. This is largely because Tottenham have been involved in an end of season tour. The tour of Australia and Malaysia has seen Spurs play a number of friendly matches with Eriksen being involved in most of them.
The 23-year-old is one of the most heavily used players by manager Mauricio Pochettino during the Premier League campaign. He featured in all 38 games with only one of them not from the start. He was also a regular in almost every competition. This saw him rack up 42 appearances in all competitions.Eriksen was clearly one of the top players in the team after he returned an impressive 13 goals from this matches. His goal tally is especially great considering that he is a playmaker who comes forward to support the strikers. The concerns from Olsen were ahead of the crucial Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Serbia. Denmark are second in the group behind Portugal.
“Christian has looked tired out lately, and therefore we curse his trip around the world.Normally clubs on long journeys in the pre-season where you make the basic work tactically and physically for the season, but it’s an idea they are tired of, so now clubs are on long trips just after the season. On the way they push the problem onto national coaches.Christian goes to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, on to Sydney in Australia, and then he also travels back home,” said the Denmark coach.
