Denmark encountered a road-block in their 2016 Euro’s qualifying journey with their latest qualifying match ending in a defeat after playing against Portugal and a late goal from Cristiano Ronaldo secured all 3 points for Portugal.
The only goal of this entire match was scored at the 95th minute when Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net with a towering header in the last few seconds of the match as Portuguese star reached for the ball and rose above everyone else as he headed the ball into the net after it was crossed in by Ricardo Quaresma.
The manager of Denmark, Morten Olsen has critiqued Christian Eriksen as the coach stated that Eriksen could have done more in the match and could have had made a bigger impact in the match. Olsen took his criticism towards Eriksen even further by saying that the Danish midfielder has not improved in the past 14 months since moving from Ajax to Tottenham Hotspurs.
“It is a brutal world; otherwise you have to play at another level. It is not Ajax any more, this is not development. After so many matches he could pick up the ball and help to control the game. He has not been able to.Therefore, we blame him. He must stand up to the criticism, and he does too.” Morten Olsen said as he blamed Christian Eriksen for their defeat against Portugal.
Morten Olsen states that the level of Christian Eriksen needs to be increased when the midfielder puts on the Danish jersey as he is expected to be one of the leaders in the pitch as he is playing in one of the top Premier League clubs and his teammates are demanding more from him.
